Kids and Cultures was started by a family with an interest and desire to learn about other cultures, and to share what we're learning with others. We started Kids and Cultures as a non-profit organization in November 2003.

Our first endeavor was to create a directory of kid-friendly cross-cultural resources. Next, we kicked off our "Treasures of the World" storytelling assembly and classroom presentation program. In 2004, we started Kids and Cultures Camp (formerly known as Cultures of the World Day Camp), which continued this summer. In 2005, we kicked off our "A World of Sillies," "Who Outsmarted the Czar?," and the "Celebrate! World Holidays for Kids" shows, followed by our Mini-trips at the Lititz Public Library in 2005-06. In response to Hurricane Katrina, we put together a school assembly to raise cultural awareness about the areas that were impacted by the hurricane. Our new show for 2006 was "Why Why Why in the World?" which we performed in libraries with the children with the title "AnimalWhys."

In 2007, we traveled internationally as a family for the first time; visit Really Big Field Trip for information about the trip. In 2007, we put together "CLUESapalooza," giving the children more stage time. Plus, we held a Family Camp. In 2008, we launched and performed our "Anansi Catches the Storytelling Bug" show; took our first Embassy Row Tour bus trip to Washington, DC; and started the Country Spotlight podcast.

Our goal, as funds allow, is to grow the Really Big Field Trip component, travel the world, and share our experiences with audiences in Lancaster, Pa., and beyond.

If you share our desire, interest, and vision, please e-mail us (click on Contact in the menu above) and let us know what you and your family are doing to learn about other cultures!
