June 30, 2006 Kenya
Today our special guest was Mr. Joel from Kenya who told us about growing up in Kenya, the different languages of Kenya, and stories of animals found there. We made simple Maasai necklaces, played a fun bouncing ball game, snacked on fresh fruits found in Kenya, and said our farewells. "Asanti" to everyone for a great week! We hope to see you this evening.
June 29, 2006 China
Mrs. Hui-Ling Tseng Singer taught us about China today! We learned about calligraphy, make jiantzi (shuttlecocks) and had a competition, played a chopsticks relay, tasted Chinese snacks and a yogurt drink, listened to a story about Chinese animals, and sang a song in Chinese.
June 30, 2006 Celebration
We celebrated Camp with a Cultures of the World Celebration, with 75 campers, parents, friends, and some of our special guests. We had a trivia contest (the campers beat the adults!), demonstrated the Russian game Streetlight, played Arroz con Leche with Miss Melissa, sang Two Tigers with Mrs. Hui-Ling, tried our Albanian dance steps, sang Jambo, and heard a Kenyan folktale. We also sampled some of the snacks from throughout the week of Camp. Thanks to everyone who came out!
June 28, 2006 Albania
Miss Klodiana "took us" to her hometown in Albania today! We made spring bracelets, played a game called Ball and War, learned a popular Albanian folk dance, heard a story about Kostandini and Doruntina, and tasted Miss Klodiana's homemade baklava!
June 27, 2006 Puerto Rico
We had a fun and busy day! Miss Melissa from Puerto Rico prepared lots of activities for us: we visited a Taino hut; we made clay shapes, coconut shell necklaces, and tattoos using traditional Taino designs; we played (and sang) a game called Arroz con Leche; we celebrated a traditional Puerto Rican Christmas; we tasted a delicious snack of crackers, guava paste, and cheese; and we feasted on a lunch of beans and rice. We also listened to a folktale about Juan Bobo and the pig.
June 26, 2006 Russia
We had a great start to Camp. Our special guest Mr. Anton from Russia told us about his country and taught us how to say some words in Russian. We played Cat and Mice, Rabbits in the Woods, and Streetlight--games that kids in Russia might play. We tasted snacks from Flamingo Deli, a Russian store near Ephrata, and heard a folktales about a Golden Fish. "Spasibo" to everyone for a great start to Camp!
June 23, 2006 Kenya
Today our special guest was Miss Pascalia from Kenya. She told us about her homeland and the languages that she speaks, she taught us to sing a Swahili song, we made simple Maasai necklaces, we played a fun bouncing ball game, snacked on fresh fruits found in Kenya, listened to a folktale explaining why Giraffe has a long neck and Rhino is so grumpy, and said our farewells. "Asanti" to everyone for a great week! We hope to see you next Friday evening.

June 21, 2006 Albania
Miss Klodiana "took us" to her hometown in Albania today! We made spring bracelets (even though today is the first day of summer here and in Albania), played a game called Ball and War, learned a popular Albanian folk dance, heard a story about Kostandini and Doruntina, and tasted Miss Klodiana's homemade baklava! If you ask campers if they enjoyed Camp today, don't be surprised if they shake their heads side to side, which means YES in Albania!
