August 2004

Hello friends of Kids and Cultures,
Happy August!

July was a busy month for Kids and Cultures. We launched our new website at www.KidsAndCultures.com. If you haven't seen it yet, take a look around, let us know what you think, and send us suggestions for improving the site.

On July 10, we participated in Global Fair, a celebration of cultures at Lancaster Mennonite School. Throughout the day, Kristina told folktales on the main stage, and we provided a "bag stamping" activity for kids who attended. We met hundreds of children and their families.

Global Fair helped us gear up for this month's big event: LancasterFest, to be held on Saturday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Lancaster, Pa. Kristina will be telling folktales on the children's stage (in the 100 block of North Queen Street) from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. Stop by our activity booth and say hello! (If you would like to volunteer to help at our booth, contact us by August 7 for details.)

We are looking for a volunteer to help us add resources to our online directory. Access to a computer and the internet, several hours per week, and a desire to learn about and share cultural resources are a must. We will provide training. This position could be ideal for a high-school aged home school student, a college student, or anyone who has a few hours to spare each week. If you know someone who might be interested in this position, have them contact us for more information at info@KidsAndCultures.com.
Now's a good time to let PTOs, teachers, and principals know about our Treasures of the World school assemblies and events. Refer them to www.TreasuresOfTheWorld.org.

Thanks for your interest and support, and as always, send us your ideas!

Until next month,

Timm, Kristina, Katia, and Thaniel Wenger
