This month, we're teaming up with photojournalist Jo Ann Mast to feature handmade greeting cards of "Children in their Environment," available only at our website. For a suggested donation of $20 (a holiday special--$5 off the retail value of $25, and including shipping and handling), you will receive eight cards and envelopes. Thanks to all who came out (and invited others!) to the November 18 "Treasures of the World" storytelling premiere at Lancaster Library. More than 40 people attended; heard stories from Appalachia, Japan, Russia, East Africa, and Cuba; made crafts from these locations; and tasted snacks including sticky rice, roasted wheat berries, and guava. Here's what a librarian said afterward, "My eight-year-old child and I thoroughly enjoyed 'Treasures of the World.' Kristina Wenger is a gifted storyteller who gives a spirited
performance. Her experience as an educator is obvious in the way she relates to the audience, at times asking audience members to act out a story. The tales, from various regions of the world, are carefully
chosen to teach valuable lessons about positive character traits." (Joyce Sands, Youth Services Librarian)
