YEAR-IN-REVIEW: Photos and letter on our website
We’ve put together a special photo report that you can read on our website. Click on www.KidsAndCultures.com to see some of the highlights of 2006 (you might even see someone you know!) and to read an important letter from founders Timm and Kristina Wenger.
REALLY BIG FIELD TRIP: Invitation to Turkey
We have an invitation to travel to Turkey in the coming year to gather first-hand information and experiences. We're in discussion with a filmmaker about putting together a documentary of our adventures, and with interns from Millersville University to help us create educational materials. Visit www.ReallyBigFieldTrip.com for more information and for ways to help us make this happen. We want you to join us, even if it’s virtually, on a Really Big Field Trip!
JOIN THE PARTNERS NETWORK: Become a donor, advocate, or volunteer
Kids and Cultures needs your involvement to continue to grow. Consider being a donor, advocate, or volunteer. We have a goal to raise $12,000 and a dozen advocates and volunteers by December 31. Visit www.KidsAndCultures.com (and click on Partners Network in the upper menu) for more information, to join the Partners Network, and/or to give a tax-deductible contribution online.
CULTURES OF THE WORLD CLUB FOR FAMILIES: Next stop-Puerto Rico
Take your family on a trip around the world! Join us each month for stories, games, crafts, music, and snacks from a different country or culture. The next session is on Tuesday, December 12, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Millersville International House, Millersville, Pa. Pre-registration is required. Visit www.KidsAndCultures.com (click on Cultures of the World Club for Families) for more details.
CELEBRATE! WORLD HOLIDAYS FOR KIDS-Bring in the new year with us!
Join us on December 31 in Downtown Lancaster, Pa., for one of four presentations of our holiday show. Visit http://www.lancasterrec.org/1066852222.wwi for more information. Our good friend Steven Courtney is performing at one of the venues, so it will definitely be a worthwhile evening for those who attend.
FEATURED RESOURCE: Read to Feed for Heifer International
As a child, I (Timm) remember my dad giving young cows to Heifer International, an organization that has helped more than four million impoverished families in 128 countries lift themselves out of poverty and achieve self-reliance. Heifer International provides a "living loan" of an animal instead of providing hungry families with a non-renewable source of food. We support Heifer International’s efforts, especially as we “Read to Feed” (www.readtofeed.org). This is an excellent project for school classrooms, scout groups, churches, and families. Most of us can’t give cows, but by reading, we can raise money to help others!
Thank you for your interest and support, and as always, send us your ideas!
Until next month,
Timm, Kristina, Katia, and Thaniel Wenger
