WHY WHY WHY KICKOFF: Thanks for making our premiere a success!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the premiere of our new storytelling show Why Why Why in the World? on
January 20. More than 150 children and adults came out to Ross Elementary School in Lancaster, Pa., for trivia, snacks, giveaways, and a sampling from our new show. You can see photos by visiting our website: www.KidsAndCultures.com. We appreciate the businesses that donated items: La Cocina Mexicana Restaurant, Fulton Opera House, Giant Foods, Usborne Books (www.usbornebooks-pa.com), 88 Chinese/Tokyo Express, and Saifes Middle Eastern Foods.
ANIMALWHYS: Coming to a library near you this summer
We're beginning to fill up our summer schedule with AnimalWhys (a variation of Why Why Why in the World? that features all four of us). The show, which is packed with animal pourquoi tales from around the world, ties in with the national library summer reading program theme of Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales. Please contact your local library to request AnimalWhys for this summer, and we hope to see you there!
KIDS AND CULTURES FAVORITES: Submit ideas for our new web feature
We are re-doing our website this month and adding a "Favorites" section. Send us your ideas of how you help the children in your family or classroom learn about the cultures of the world. We're looking for books, videos, events, museums, restaurants, field trips, clubs, games, websites, TV shows, magazines, activities, and other ways of introducing children to the world. Send your ideas to info@KidsAndCultures.com. Thank you!
FEATURED EVENT: Chinese New Year celebration
A Chinese New Year celebration will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 4, at Lancaster Moravian Church, 1460 Eden Road, Lancaster, Pa. Admission is free and everyone is invited to this kick-off for a new Chinese Language and Culture School. Pre-register by calling Hui-Ling Singer at 717-625-3742.
THANK YOU: Two local companies contribute
The production of Why Why Why in the World? was underwritten in part by a generous contribution from Dutch Wonderland's International Days, September 23-24, 2006. We also received a donation from the law offices of Gibbel, Kraybill and Hess. We appreciate their contributions to our cause!
Thank you for your interest and support, and as always, send us your ideas!
Until next month,
Timm, Kristina, Katia, and Thaniel Wenger
