CULTURES OF THE WORLD DAY CAMP: New schedule
Hey, kids, get ready to visit five world destinations in five days this summer! We’re gearing up for our fifth annual Cultures of the World Day Camp with a new schedule. Mark your calendars for June 16 to 20, 2008. We will offer two almost identical sessions: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; pick the one that fits your summer plans. (We will not have Camp during the week of June 23 to 27, as previously announced.) Again this year, Camp features guests from five different countries, plus an extra bonus activity each day. Visit the Cultures of the World Day Camp section of www.KidsAndCultures.com for more details as they become available. We hope to see you in 131 days!
FAMILY FUN (AND FUNDRAISING) EVENT: Mark your calendars
Plan now to attend our third annual Family Fun (and fundraising) Event on Friday, August 8, 4 to 8 p.m., at Conestoga House and Gardens, Lancaster, Pa. (Raindate is August 15.) We are planning to feature live international music throughout the gardens. If you are, or know of, an accomplished musical performer with a unique cultural style and interest in participating, please contact us at info@KidsAndCultures.com.
FEATURED RESOURCE: Countries Around the World videos
Explore world geography with Countries Around the World! Learning about different regions of the world is essential to appreciating the growing connections between countries and people. Spanning six continents and covering 52 countries, this series introduces students to the physical characteristics of each place, from geographic landmarks to capitals, and to the social, political, historical and cultural features that make each country unique. Through the eyes of a child host, students are able to observe aspects of daily life, including food, school, climate, transportation and recreation. Students will recognize the richness and diversity of different countries and cultures as well as those commonalities of human life that unite children, families and communities around the world. An excellent resource for country studies and world geography units! Check your local library or visit http://www.libraryvideo.com/sm/cawdvd.asp?mscssid=AN1C0T7AQS349MWLF1HLUF1BJHMDFJ3E
