1. CAMP: Announcing new options, this year's destinations, and registration
Kids and Cultures Camp will be held at Lancaster Country Day School, June 14 to 18 and June 21 to 25, featuring Hawaii, Italy, Venezuela, Egypt, India, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Haiti, Ecuador, and Syria. We've added a full-day option: Spanish Camp (with Your Language Connection), and Little Kids and Cultures Camp, for younger campers and their parents/caregivers. Registration begins today. Learn more and register at www.KidsAndCultures.com/camp.

2. TASTE THE WORLD: Two events, and a year of sampling
Kids and Cultures has released a Taste the World coupon book, with coupons for $40 of free food from cultural restaurants in Lancaster City, Pa., and $40 worth of discount coupons for menu items. Find more information at www.KidsAndCultures.com/tastetheworldcouponbook. Also mark your calendars for May 21 and September 10 for Taste the World events. Tickets go on sale later this month at www.KidsAndCultures.com/tastetheworld.

3. BLOGS: Three are better than one
We now have three blogs! In January, our board members and staff blogged about favorite ways of helping to introduce kids to world cultures, including some resources about Haiti. Also, follow nine-year-old Jansen, one of our KidBloggers, who was in Peru last month. And finally, our intern Brittany is blogging about her visits to the Taste the World restaurants. Follow our blogs at www.KidsAndCultures.com/blogs!

4. CLASSROOM: Help us create a new program for schools
Building on the success of our Camp and Mini-trip programs, Kids and Cultures is developing a new educational program, including curriculum and guest presentations, for elementary classrooms. We need the input of educators and others to help us design the materials and sessions. Join us for an informational/planning meeting on Saturday, February 20, 1:30 to 3 p.m. (location to be determined). Contact Timm at timm@KidsAndCultures.com, if you are interested in helping with this project and/or to RSVP.

5. FEATURED EVENT: Chinese Youth Orchestra
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with students from the China Youth Orchestra as they share their native instruments such as the pipa, erhu (Chinese violin with 2 strings), dizi (like a flute), xun, run, sanxian, and a variety of percussion instruments. Concerts will be held February 19 and 20, 7:30 p.m., at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, Lancaster, Pa. Find information and purchase tickets at www.pamusacad.org/concerts.php. (Contact the Academy at 717-399-9733 to find out about their free Inreach Program for students, February 19, 1:00 p.m.)
