1. Happy birthday to us!
We're celebrating our fourth anniversary today! When we look back over the past four years, we are grateful for all that we have learned, the many people that we have met, and all that we've been able to accomplish. Thank you to everyone who has had a part in making Kids and Cultures what it is. We look forward to finding more creative ways to introduce children to world cultures in the upcoming year!

2. Look for our Thanksgiving letter
Check your mailbox and/or our website in a few weeks for our annual Thanksgiving letter. We just wrapped up our fiscal year and will report on what all we've done and list ways for you to be involved in the upcoming year. Stay tuned!

3. Start your holiday shopping here
Looking for some (lead-free!) educational gifts for children for the holidays? Check out our Favorite Resources page at our website (http://kidsandcultures.com/pages/index.php?pID=548) for books and CDs that help introduce children to the world. A portion of all sales comes back to support Kids and Cultures. Thanks!

4. Assembly discount for local districts
We’ve received a generous contribution from Sam S. Smucker and Sons, and are offering a $200 discount to four local elementary schools. This offer is for our first (and most requested) character education storytelling show, Treasures of the World. The discount is for performances on these dates in 2008: January 22, 23, 25, 28, 29, 31; February 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15.

This offer is valid only for school districts in which the superintendents have submitted letters of recommendation for Kids and Cultures to participate in the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit program and include (in Lancaster County, Pa.): Cocalico, Columbia, Eastern Lancaster County, Hempfield, Lampeter-Strasburg, Manheim Central, Manheim Township, Penn Manor, School District of Lancaster, and Warwick.

Talk with your school's assembly planner. Interested hosts should fill out the online Request Form in the Book Us section of the website, using EITC as the Discount Code. The assemblies must be booked by November 30. Contact us at info@KidsAndCultures.com if you have questions.

5. Featured resource: Around-the-world Cinderella
Hear and see the story of Cinderella as never before. The book Glass Slipper, Gold Sandal, by Newberry Award-winning author Paul Fleischman and illustrator Julie Paschkis, spans centuries and continents, changing to match its surroundings. The author and illustrator braid the story's many versions into one globe-spanning tale, a testimony to the rich variety and enduring constants of our cultures. You can purchase the book by clicking on the Featured Resource link at www.KidsAndCultures.com

Thank you for your interest and support, and as always, send us your ideas!

Until next month,

Timm, Kristina, Katia, and Thaniel Wenger
