1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! Kids and Cultures begins seventh year
November 1 marked the sixth anniversary of the incorporation of Kids and Cultures as a non-profit educational organization. We are grateful to the many people who have helped us accomplish our mission of introducing children to world cultures in our first six years, and we look forward to another year of working and learning together.
2. CELEBRATE! WORLD HOLIDAYS FOR KIDS: It's not too late to book a holiday assembly
Just in time for the holiday season, Kids and Cultures returns with their 45-minute interactive multicultural presentation packed with festive folktales, facts, and fun! Learn about special days that children around the world celebrate at the time of the year that we call "the holidays." This show runs for a limited time only, November 9 to December 23. Find out more information and booking details at http://www.KidsAndCultures.com/celebrate. We still have open dates, so please forward this information to a school assembly planner.
3. THE WIEBNERS: Donate $646.23
On October 1, the Wiebners Portrait Studio and Retail Photo Boutique, Lancaster, Pa. (http://thewiebners.com), opened their studio for the monthly First Friday festivities. With pocket change (and more), visitors voted for their favorite fun photos of kids and pumpkins, raising $646.23 for the programs of Kids and Cultures. We thank the Wiebners and their guests for their generosity! In this fiscal year, local businesses have contributed more than $5,000. Thank you!
4. BOARD OF DIRECTORS: New officers elected
At the October board meeting, the following officers were elected for one-year terms: Michelle Fogel, chair; Matt Lester, vice chair; and Dave Kauffman, treasurer. Michelle Salinas continues as secretary. We thank Sylvia Strobel for serving as interim chair in August and September.
5. GIFTS THAT GIVE: Join us for the Gifts that Give Hope Alternative Gift Fair
Are you looking for ways to eliminate the holiday stress? Does the commercialism of the holiday season get you down? Do you have more stuff than you know what to do with? The Alternative Gift Fair, "Gifts that Give Hope" offers holiday shoppers an alternative to traditional gift giving and is a perfect way to get in the real spirit of the season. Join Kids and Cultures and dozens of other organizations on Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster, Pa. See http://www.giftsthatgivehope.org/lancaster for more details.
Thank you for your interest and support, and as always, send us your ideas,
