FAMILY FUN (AND FUNDRAISING) EVENT: Raised more than $1,000
More than 80 children and adults attended our first Family Fun Event, held at the Gardens at Conestoga House on Friday evening, September 8. The event included a Putumayo Kids Pool Party (interrupted by unexpected downpours and distant thunder), the making of Pinwheels for Peace, a silent auction, international hor d'oeuvres, a program called "The Best of..." (a storytelling montage of favorites), and the unveiling of three new Kids and Cultures programs (find out more in next month’s e-newsletter). The MCs for the evening were Steven Courtney and Lisa Landis.
The event raised more than $1,000 for the programs of Kids and Cultures. We thank everyone who helped to make this event a success!
CELEBRATE! WORLD HOLIDAYS FOR KIDS: Holiday show returns
Our holiday show is a 45-minute trip around the world in which we explore the holidays that children celebrate in many countries. Just in time for the holiday season, Kids and Cultures presents this interactive multicultural presentation packed with festive folktales, facts, and fun! The show includes stories about the origins of Hanukkah, the Feast of the Sacrifice, the Snow Maiden legend, and Santa Claus; information about Kwanzaa, the Floating of the Flower Boats, the legend of the poinsettia, and other unique celebrations; and examples of New Year celebrations all around the world.
CULTURES OF THE WORLD CLUB FOR FAMILIES: Next Stop-Afghanistan
Take your family on a trip around the world! Join us each month for stories, games, crafts, music, and snacks from a different country or culture. The next session is on Tuesday, October 10, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Millersville International House, Millersville, Pa. Pre-registration is required. Visit www.KidsAndCultures.com (click on Cultures of the World Club for Families) for more details.

WRAPPING UP OUR THIRD YEAR: Help us end our fiscal year in the black
Our fiscal year ends on October 31. During this past year, the Wengers have accepted less than half their salaries to help Kids and Cultures make ends meet. Please consider giving a donation to offset the shortfall. Thank you.
