To try on your first visit: Pineapple bread, guava bread or cheese ball bread.

Aurora Salgado doesn't hesitate in naming her favorite food as a child - "Always, I liked the bread," she says. Today, she and her husband Cesar bring the tradition of Colombian breads to Lancaster - from pineapple and guava breads to cheese ball breads (a round bread).

To go alongside it all: A traditional Colombian hot chocolate.

So when would you eat bread in Colombia?

"It's 7 in the morning, 9 in the morning," Cesar says. "It may come with the noon meal. Then again at 3 in the afternoon, 6 in the afternoon."

Cesar and Aurora, who are from Cali, Colombia, came to the United States some 15 years ago and have been in Lancaster for three years. They bought the bakery in May 2008.

As you walk into the bakery, check out the display case to your right. Be sure and look at the menu too. The delicacies include arepas, a traditional Colombian corn bread, with chorizo (sausage); empanadas (filled pastries); and bread pudding.

To do: Knead some dough. Almost every culture has traditions related to bread and baking. What the traditions or treasured recipes in your family? Sure, you know what they taste like. But do you know how to make them?
